The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), signed by President George H.W. Bush in July 1990, is a civil rights law banning discrimination against people with disabilities in jobs, schools, transportation and all places open to the public. It aims to give people with disabilities the same rights and opportunities protected on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin, age and religion.

This 60-minute ADA compliance webinar covers Titles I through V, the rights of employers, applicants and employees, and the definitions of reasonable accommodation and major life activities. You'll review examples of accommodations, the limits on the duty to accommodate, keeping production and performance standards, protected medical conditions, how federal and state law interact, and recordkeeping and posting requirements.

  • Explain the ADA's purpose and Titles I through V
  • Describe the rights of employers, applicants and employees under the Act
  • Define reasonable accommodation and major life activities
  • Identify accommodations you may need to provide and the limits of that duty
  • Apply federal and state disability law together
  • Meet ADA recordkeeping and posting requirements
